A snowy start
09 Jan 2026Form 4 have enjoyed returning to school, sharing their news and participating in the School Council's fundraising event this week. It was also particularly exciting when it began to snow on the first day back.
The children began their French lessons this term by finding out about the weather. They had a go at acting out various weather conditions for each other and sang songs to help them remember key vocabulary.
In science, they began the new topic of rocks and soils in the science lab. They soon realised that there are a wide variety of rocks and even discovered that pumice can float on water. There was also an impressive range of prior knowledge of volcanoes.
Humanities consisted of an introduction to the Anglo-Saxons. The children found out about the various invaders that arrived once the Romans had left Britain and discovered how the tribes settled in England.
In English, the children have been writing playscripts, thinking carefully about the layout of their work and enjoying adding their own details to the traditional Little Red Riding Hood story.
Maths has focused on place value and the children have been writing, ordering and comparing numbers from thousandths up to 1 million. They have also looked at rounding and negative numbers.
