Back with a bang!

Nursery have come back to school with a bang this week, as we have been learning all about Bonfire Night and fireworks with a new story called The Quiet Little Firework. This story has helped us to talk about feeling worried and shy and what we can do to help others feel better!

In this topic, we have also learnt a lot about keeping safe around fireworks and fires. We have read stories and watched videos of firefighters who have explained their bonfire safety rules.

The children loved exploring the sounds of fireworks with instruments. We made sounds with our voices, tried to find instruments that sounded like these noises, then played them quietly, loudly and practised stopping and starting. The children put this all together to create our own sensory fireworks display.

We have also been learning about patterns this week, and have all picked it up really quickly. They can now complete ABAB patterns and have loved doing this on the C-Touch!

To practice letter recognition and phonics, we have been comparing and matching lower case to upper case letters, looking at the similarities and differences between their shapes.

They all loved practising ball skills on the field, and when we got to the end of the field we found quicksand with bear footprints and went on a search for further clues! Great work detectives.

In our pre-prep assembly, our first special leaf this half-term was awarded to someone who has worked really hard in their toilet training journey and has been coming in without nappies!

Next week is Anti-bullying Week, so we will be focussing on the Elmer stories to learn about friendship and similarities and differences. Next Tuesday is also our library trip. Have a lovely weekend!
