Building excitement
16 Oct 2026As we approach the half-term break, the children have carried on at full speed in the classroom and beyond this week.
Excitement has been building in the lead up to this year's House Captains' first Inter-House Sport Tournament taking place at the end of this week. We wish all the hockey and football players the best of luck.
An enjoyable aspect has been the freshly revised club offer, which has been well-supported by our Form 7s. Some of this week’s highlights include treehouse-themed builds in Lego Club, imaginative drama in Storytellers and problem-solving challenges in Chess and Puzzle Club. As these continue to grow in numbers, I am already looking forward to seeing what the children sign up for after Christmas.
In Form time this week, we have spent time discussing trans-Atlantic travel by different forms of aircraft. We looked at images of zeppelins, which were used to carry bombs in World War 1, as well as up to 1000 passengers at a time in the inter-war period before the Hindenburg disaster in the 1930’s. We also spent time forming our own opinions about a mysterious object spotted in satellite images above Kiribati, that is speculated to be part of Amelia Earhart's long lost plane. Whilst we thought that it would be a cool job to investigate the artefact, we were less keen on the idea of sharing the island with the gigantic coconut crabs that live there, whose legs can grow up to 1 metre long! Why not explore these articles further with your children or see what they can remember?
