Camp memories

Form 4 had a wonderful time at their camp on the weekend. They were all keenly waiting at the gate at 6pm on Friday and they enjoyed a delicious BBQ once they had found out who they were sharing a tent with and set up their beds. There were even ice lollies for dessert, perfect in the warm weather.

This was followed by a treasure hunt that led the children around the whole school, and a campfire with toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. By now, the rain was beginning to set in but there was just time for some initiative exercises and teeth brushing before the heavens really opened. The children did an amazing job of looking after each other during the storm and luckily it soon passed, only to be replaced by the sound of the bleating sheep in the nearby field!

Everyone was up early the next morning and there was time for a quick play before breakfast. Mr McCarthy arrived to see how everyone was and there was time to celebrate for one member of the class with birthday doughnuts for all.  Almost all kit was reunited with their owners in time for pick up at 9am on Saturday morning.

The children have also been busy with other things this week. They have taken a few steps further in their science investigation by analysing the pen used to write the note found at the scene using chromatography. They're also pretty sure they've seen a member of staff wearing a jacket made from a very similar material to the piece found at the scene.

In English, they have written some wonderful poems about a dragon, focusing on the use of figurative language, and there was time to design their own necklaces in the style of those made by the Maasai.
