Discussions and drawings
11 Sep 2026Our first full week back in Nursery has been fantastic! We started our week in a group discussion and drawing activity all about our families. The children shared who they have in their families and we spent time drawing them all together.
In the classroom, we have been exploring numbers with a numbered car park activity. The children have been working both as a team and independently to match the numbers on the cars to the amount of dots in the parking spaces.
On Tuesday, we were able to go down to the library on the minibus. The children enjoyed meeting the librarian and being read to by one of the lovely volunteers - we enjoyed a few stories about dinosaurs and emotions. Everybody chose a book each to take out and bring back to school and we have been enjoying reading them in our story times every day.
To continue to support the children's emotional development, we have been reading The Colour Monster this week, discussing a range of emotions and what we can do to help ourselves and others if we are feeling sad or angry. The children have enjoyed painting and colour mixing when creating their own Colour Monsters.
In our PE lesson this week, we have been practising ball skills. The children took turns rolling a ball to each other in a circle. Then they threw their balls through a large hoop, and in pairs practised throwing and catching.
We've also been doing lots of singing this week, both in music lessons and in the classroom. On Thursday, we took it in turns to choose a song card and had to think of a song that was represented by the picture - some of the children even chose to make up their own songs!
Well done to all the Nursery children for another great week. Have a lovely weekend!
