During English, the children wrote a list of items that they would take to the moon, using commas. They also played a memory game using objects and food items that they would take to the moon. It was very funny and they remembered many items. They also wrote an animal riddle and we had a great time guessing what animal they were describing.

In science, the children have been learning about the eye and its function. They were fascinated by the topic and particularly interested in discussing how people who are blind or visually impaired navigate and manage everyday life. To help develop their understanding, the children took part in a range of practical activities. Working in pairs, one child wore a blindfold while their partner gave clear instructions to guide them safely across the room. We also explored Braille and the children enjoyed writing their names using Braille.

The children then challenged themselves to draw a picture with their eyes closed. They quickly realised how difficult it can be to complete everyday tasks without being able to see and showed great empathy when discussing the challenges faced by people who are blind or visually impaired.  

This week in humanities, the children enjoyed learning about Neil Armstrong and different space rockets. The children made a model of the Apollo 11 out of plasticine and added their own space picture. These were fantastic.
