Giving back

It was lovely to see so many of you attend the Harvest Festival on Wednesday and your kind donations have now been dispatched to Sevenoaks Larder, where they were gratefully received and will end up making a difference to the lives of many in our community.

In school, the children have discussed why there is a need for services like this and, as we were reminded by the need for the flu spray on Thursday, as the weather turns colder, more and more people in the community find life a little harder.

In science lessons, the children have continued their topic of Light by learning how light passes into their eyes. By dissecting eyeballs, the children were able to uncover the journey of a ray of light, discovering the parts of the eye that it travels through and appreciating the complexity of one of our key senses.

The children have also enjoyed challenging their critical thinking skills in humanities this week. When presented with a picture of a small group of soldiers carrying a tank, they automatically deduced that it was an AI image. However, when it was revealed that it was a real photograph, the curiosity began to flow until it was uncovered that the tank itself was a model, designed to mislead the enemy during combat.

Elsewhere on the sports fields, it has been a busy week of competition. After a wet Wednesday on the hockey field, our U11 team are today competing in the U11 IAPS Hockey regional qualifier, whilst we also say good luck to our Form 7 swimmers, who are competing in the ISA Swimming Gala this afternoon.
