Gymnastic skills
19 Sep 2025In gymnastics, the children in Form 5 have been developing their floor and vault skills.
On vault, they have been focusing on their take-off and landing, with children performing a squat-on or squat-through vault.
On the floor, children have had the option to develop their own individual skills from different categories, including; balance, flexibility and strength, as well as specific skills. We've seen cartwheels, handstands, handstand forward rolls, forwards and backwards rolls and bridge kick-overs, just to name a few.
One of the Russell House Peripatetic Music Teachers, Mr Maslin, came into the music lesson to talk to the pupils about brass instruments. Mr Maslin brought in a trumpet and a trombone, explained how to make a sound on the instrument and how the instrument works. If any pupil in Form 5 is interested in having a taster lesson with Mr Maslin with a view to start lessons, then please send Miss Norford an email. Mr Maslin teaches trumpet, trombone, french horn and, if you are feeling particularly strong, the tuba!
