I believe I can fly

Many of Form 6 agreed that the best superpower would be to be able to fly.

They thought about the opportunities this would allow them, with their poetic hats on...
- gliding through the sky and chomping on candyfloss clouds.
- diving into black holes to find the end of the Universe.
- racing jets around the globe.
- sliding down the rainbow to find a pot of gold.
- floating over the sea, flapping wings in time with the manta rays.
These were just some of the descriptions the class came up with. But would they be happy? We discussed how it is human nature always to want more and look enviously at what others have. The closing lines of their poems reflected this, with lines like, I would pray to say goodbye to my wings so I could walk and swim again and, If I had wings, would I use them, would I want them? The answer is...no!

During Form Time, we used Circle Time to discuss some everyday problems that might happen at school and we discussed whether they were examples of bullying or not. The children shared their excellent ideas on what they would do and how they could help each other. We talked about emotions and that sometimes we might feel angry or sad and that's okay. It was interesting to hear how the children deal with emotions in different ways and they offered thoughtful ideas during our discussion.

This week in maths, some of our Form 6 class have been exploring cube nets as part of their spatial reasoning work. After designing and making a cube net with tabs, the children constructed their cubes and discussed how many sides were visible at one time and worked out which sides would be opposite each other on their net.
