Merry Robins Christmas!
08 Dec 2023Our topic this week in Robins was Our Favourite Book.
In true Robins style, we started the week with our shopping visit to Mrs Tickner to collect a colourful collection of fruit and vegetables and our yummy crumpets and bread.
We had lots of fun watching Form 3's fabulous play. The children laughed so much and so did our Elvis the Elf. Our Robins sat beautifully during the performance and they were able to recall their favourite part of the play.
Once back in class, the children enjoyed playing with the new Disney resources. They made Ariel cupcakes and Belle biscuits. Dressing up is a fond favourite at the moment and it’s so lovely to see the children use the many resources on offer to support their imaginative play.
Our focus story of the week was Chocolate Mousse for Greedy Goose. The Robins enjoyed making a yummy mousse as part of the story. We substituted chocolate mousse for strawberry mousse. Lots of fun was had mixing the ingredients and there were lots of describing words as the children took turns smelling the mixture.
Our other cooking activities consisted of banana milkshakes and Christmas cupcakes. The children enjoyed watching the banana whizz around in the blender, along with the icy cold milk. On Wednesday afternoon we used flour, sugar, dairy free spread and eggs to make cupcakes for our Christmas tea party. The Robins did a great job of mixing the ingredients and they were able to identify each ingredient. Well done, Robins!
There was lots of wiggling and jiggling when we scrimbled to music. The Robins listened very well to the instructions and they made marks with different-sized crayons. This pre-writing activity supports children's fine motor skills and, most importantly, it is fun!
The Robins did some fantastic singing in their Christmas Concert and they all shook their bells for the festive finale. This was followed by a fabulous tea party and a delivery from Father Christmas. We also had a special present from Elvis the Elf for doing such fantastic singing. The children helped to unwrap the present and inside was a new book which we read together at the end of our concert and party. The Robins are certainly very lucky to have such a thoughtful Elf, as he remembered that unicorns were one of their favourite things and it was lovely to see them in our Christmas storybook.
This is our last bulletin of the Autumn Term. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and spend lots of quality time with your loved ones over the festive break. It is time to say goodbye to some of our Robins that have flown the nest to make their way to Nursery. We look forward to welcoming our new children in January for some Spring Term fun.
Merry Christmas!
