Noble truths
09 Jan 2026Happy New Year to all of our Form 6 families. It has been wonderful hearing all the children's stories from their Christmas holidays and everyone has returned to school well rested and eager to learn.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed wearing their own clothes to school this week and we have seen some superb costumes, including Michael Jackson and a GB hockey player (and lots of football kit!). Thank you to all of our families for your contributions towards the School Council's Legacy Project and their chosen charity, The Rainbow Trust.
In humanities this week, Form 6 has started their new topic of Buddhism and they have been learning about the Four Noble Truths.
In French, we jumped right into the new year with some awesome resolutions and powered through a bunch of useful verbs we can’t wait to use every day! And then, the best surprise ever, our French pen pals wrote to us to wish us a Merry Christmas!
In science, we have started our Space topic by building a model of the sun, Earth and moon. This model has helped us to understand how these celestial bodies rotate and how the Earth orbits the sun and the moon orbits the Earth. Form 6 have been linking how these movements affect the way we measure time on Earth from our days, through to the seasons of the year.
In maths, the class have been working on their problem-solving skills by working in teams to solve two riddles. For the Prisoner hat challenge, they needed to find a strategy to identify whether they were wearing a blue or black hat, without looking, to avoid being eaten by aliens. Whereas in the Bridge puzzle, escaping from zombies was the aim, as the children needed to find a way of transporting people to safety across a bridge that could only carry two at a time.
We are all now looking forward to next week, when clubs will start and the children will have their first netball and rugby fixtures of the year.
