Remarkable rays
02 Oct 2026With inspectors roaming the corridors of the school this week, it has been brilliant to see the children of Form 7 step up to the mark and show off just how remarkable they are.
This has included sharing pieces of work with our visitors, discussing their experiences in school and participating in lessons being observed. Being remarkable was also the theme of Thursday’s assembly where the class enjoyed being quizzed on remarkable people throughout history.
Elsewhere in lessons, the children have particularly liked the practical elements of their science work on refracting light this term. In their lesson this week, the children used ray boxes to generate a ray of light through perspex blocks to test how light travels through a medium of greater density. Spoiler alert, it slows down.
On Tuesday, the School Council ran a Double Denim for Demelza day, where all the children dressed up in denim to raise money for Demelza. Although we do not know the total yet, we are very grateful for all donations and for the School Council, who organised the day and collected the money in buckets at the school gates.
Mr McCarthy yet again put the House Captains through their paces during assembly, but this time the rest of the School Council and Prefects also chipped in to help to complete the teamwork challenge set for them.
