Ribbons and medals

It has been a week and a weekend of many sporting triumphs for several of the children in Form 7 this week, with more medals and ribbons returning to Russell House.

A tremendous performance from our gymnasts led to an impressive 3rd place finish in the U11 boy’s team category at the national finals, before being crowned national champions as part of the South East team in the regional category. This is a remarkable achievement and all of those taking part should be very proud of themselves. This spectacular performance was followed up with a trip to Walthamstow Hall for eight of our Form 7 swimmers to take part in a development swimming gala. A string of wins and a steady team performance saw them secure the overall team victory. Another incredible result! As if that wasn’t enough, our U11 netball team also travelled across the country on Thursday to take part in the ISA national netball finals in Warwick.

Elsewhere in school this week, we welcomed the grandparents of many of our children into school. They were treated to some musical performances by several talented soloists, as well as Chamber Choir and Choristers, before being toured around the school by their grandchildren. This was definitely a feel-good day and was enjoyed by the children and visitors alike.

On Wednesday, the Mother’s Day stalls opened for our children to go and choose gifts for their family members. Thank you to all those who lent a hand, I know that the children in Form 7 were very grateful.

In assembly this week, we were also delighted to see the presentation of two bronze awards from the Primary Maths Challenge. Well done to the participants for achieving this, as the paper was extremely tough this year.

Finally, the week ended with the Legacy Project bake off and cake sale in the Russell Hall. Every year our School Council plan and run an event to help raise money for their chosen charity and they have put a great deal of effort into making this event happen. We will be able to share more news about the amount of money raised in the coming weeks.
