We’ve had a wonderfully wild time in Transition this week!
We eased ourselves into Monday morning by reading a lovely story called The Lion Inside. The story talks about confidence, self esteem and how even the littlest mice can find their roar! We thought it was a very important message and discussed what things can help us when we’re feeling worried. Transition shared their suggestions with the rest of the class and discovered that cuddles from mummy and daddy can definitely help! We worked together to create a courage jar that Transition can use if needed, although they’re definitely discovering more of their roar!
On Tuesday, the children made the most of the wonderful weather and enjoyed a story in the sunshine, with Mrs Nelson. They listened to The Selfish Crocodile, which shares another important message about kindness and sharing. Transition helped to retell the story, by acting out the different parts with puppets and certainly helped to bring the story to life!
We read a funny book called Flip Flap Safari where you can make some very silly animals! We made a lihog which had the head of a
lion and the body of a warthog and a crocalo which had the head of a crocodile and the body of a buffalo! We then created a giant crocra with the head of a crocodile and the body of a zebra. The class used bubble wrap to print the scales on the crocodile and then very carefully painted the zebra’s stripes. We think it looks brilltastic!
On Thursday, it was time to go on safari! We started off by making binoculars in the classroom before heading off around the school grounds. The children had to look really carefully for all sorts of different animals including lions, giraffes, zebras, hippos, elephants and rhinos. At each animal that we found, the children carefully listened to an interesting fact file to learn more about each animal.
Finally, I would like to say how proud I am of everyone in Transition who have all worked so hard to learn the songs and words for our Coffee Morning assembly. They have performed with confidence and most importantly, with big smiles on their faces. Well done everyone!
