Shields and strength
21 Nov 2025This week, Form 3 have been making Aztec shields.
They have been learning about how important soldiers were and how soldiers could earn their feathers. The more feathers a soldier had on their shield, the more important they were. Aztec soldiers began training when they were 17 years old and many of them did not return to their homes.
In science, the children were testing if they could change materials to make them stronger. They learned that a simple piece of A4 paper could be made stronger by making it into a cylinder to hold 8 reading books. They also conducted a fair test to investigate the absorbency of different types of paper. They concluded that to mop up spills the best paper to use was kitchen roll.
