Spooky season

What a fantastic half term we've had in Nursery, well done to all of the children for all of your hard work over the last seven weeks.

This week we have been reading the story of Funnybones, helping us to learn about our bodies and skeletons, as well as exploring the spooky season of Halloween!

On Monday, we created our own skeletons in a sticking activity. This helped us to learn different names of the bones and explore where each body part goes. On Tuesday, we loved recreating the story in our small world tuff tray. This supported our memories and imagination! After reading about the skeletons living in a dark, dark, house, we then also created our own houses on Wednesday, looking at all the different types of homes people can live in. On Thursday, we went on an autumnal scavenger hunt, looking out for different coloured leaves, pinecones, acorns and lots of other things! Lastly, we explored pumpkins, the children loved scooping out the seeds and mixing them with different beans to create their own pretend cakes, soups and potions.

This week was also our time to shine as we put on our Pre-Prep Assembly, all about recycling. The children all shared their knowledge on this topic, speaking about what things we can recycle, what it means and how we have learnt about it. They then worked together as a team to sort a pile of rubbish into their correct recycling bins.

In this assembly, we also awarded our special leaf to a child who was new to nursery at the start of term and has settled into our routines, now being able to do his jobs in the morning!

We also held our Coffee Morning, which we have been working very hard on this half term, and the children were so excited to show their parents.
Well done Nursery children for a fantastic start to the school year. Have a lovely half-term break!
