States of matter
13 Feb 2026In science, they began the new topic of states of matter.
The children had to decide whether a range of objects were liquids or solids. Many were easy but Does sand flow? or Is ketchup too thick to be a liquid? were some examples of questions that provided some interesting discussion. The children also enjoyed a short video proving that you can walk on custard (as long as you don't stand still at any point)!
Form 4 have begun practising their play this week. They have excitedly been rehearsing their lines and discussing which actions and props they will need. There has been some excellent expression used and the children have had a lot of fun acting out some initial battle scenes.
In maths, the children have been working hard on longer multiplication questions that require a formal method and they began looking at Christianity in humanities. There were many thought-provoking questions about beliefs and it tied in nicely with our Children's Mental Health week work on the topic of a sense of belonging.
