The haunted house
19 Jun 2026Keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook where the photos of Sports Day will be posted soon. This week the children have virtually visited the haunted house... It was terrifying!
We opened the creeeakkkking door but, unfortunately, the old wooden door suddenly slammed shut. The whole of Form 2 were inside the house and we could not get out. The children saw many scary creatures in the house. They saw big, black bats flying around, squeaking, brown mice scampering into holes, cracked windows, a killer plant with blood coming out and many more scary creatures. The smell was horrible as it smelt like rotten teeth, apples and dead mice. They felt sticky cobwebs and ghosts fluttering around.
It really was a horrible visit, but luckily we all escaped in different ways by jumping out of windows. We ran as fast as we could to get away from the house... never to return!
Form 2 also performed Aesop's fable, The Hare and The Tortoise, and we discussed the important moral: slow and steady wins the race.
This week the children have been working hard on their division facts using their 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables. They also constructed some bar charts about their favourite animal and then they made up their own charts.
In science, we were looking at animals that are vertebrates and invertebrates. We then went on to talk about how animals adapt to their surroundings. This was an extremely interesting discussion. The children went to the Farm to water the beans and they discussed living and nonliving things.
Form 2 performed an amazing assembly for Main school about Florence Nightingale and their school trip to Kent Life. Mr Plant kindly volunteered to be bandaged up by some nurses in the Victorian times.
During humanities, Form 2 were learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They designed their own bridge using a variety of materials. The challenge was that the bridge had to stand up on its own and support a toy car. Next week they will be constructing the bridges.
