The home straight!

The final half term has begun. In typical fashion, this week has flown past with a wealth of activities to keep our Form 7's on their toes.

On Monday, the week began with a humanities day themed on Asian culture, in which many of our children shared their own family connections during an assembly. Throughout the day, Mr Plant had arranged for the class to take part in a number of workshops including kho kho (an Indian street game a bit like tag), Bollywood dancing, using chopsticks and leading a yoga session to the rest of the school.

On Tuesday, Form 7 returned to the Leavers’ Programme, attending a self-defence workshop. The key theme of the workshop was to stay calm in any situation and not to aim to hurt people, but rather to create time for a quick getaway. The session was packed full of helpful advice for the children, who had the opportunity to practise self-defence moves in a safe space.

Thursday saw some reminiscing as Form 7 presented their slides about their camp in France to the rest of the school. Their speaking was excellent and the detail of the slides was fantastic. Clearly, they have made memories that will last a lifetime. A special congratulations must go to the two pupils, who received Madame Boff’s certificates for their efforts in speaking French whilst away at camp.

Friday saw the next part of the Leavers Programme, with a visit from Yoan Reed to deliver a life skills workshop. As always, this workshop allowed the children to learn about changes that will occur in their bodies over the next couple of years as they transition towards becoming teenagers and young adults. I am always blown away by the quantity of excellent questions asked and the valuable learning that takes place.
