They have been ordering numbers (including decimals) in maths and looking at settings using the book Into the Forest by Anthony Browne in English. They also made silly sentences by picking random adjective and noun cards to make descriptive sentences.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In science, they carried out two separate experiments looking at light. The first was to prove that light travelled in a straight line. This required a lot of cooperation in order to line up three cards with small holes in the centre so that the light from a torch would travel through them and land on a target behind. The second was to look at how shadows change when a light source is moved. The children had to carefully set up their equipment and then record accurate measurements that they could then use to construct a line graph. The children also had to make predictions and recognise unexpected results.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In history, the children had to match various buildings with the correct era labels and then organise them in chronological order to make a timeline. They were very certain that the pyramids and Egyptians went first, but there was a lot of excellent discussion of some of the other examples.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The children are also very excited about their first competitive matches this week. All the children will be taking part in either a hockey or football fixture and there has been a lot of chatter about match teas!
