Time for summer games

After a well-earned break following all the hard work that was put into the production last term, Form 5 ready to get stuck into the Summer Term.

In maths lessons this week, Form 5 have been investigating 3D shapes. After identifying their properties, such as edges, faces and vertices, some of the class were tasked with learning the Greek numbers from 1-10. By doing this, the class realised that a lot of shape names derive from Greek language and often describe the number of sides or faces. For example, pentagon is a combination of the Greek words for five and angle, whilst dodecahedron (a 12-faced 3D shape) stems from the words dodeka meaning twelve and hedron meaning bases or faces. Can you guess what the translation for octahedron is?

Cricket season is upon us and we enjoyed putting on our whites, getting out to the sports field for summer games. We have already been working on our bowling, fielding and running between the stumps.

In Form Time, we have started preparing for the Form 5 camp to Norfolk Lakes. The excitement is already building as we discussed some of the activities that the children will face on the camp.
