Where will your compass take you?
01 May 2026This week, the Leavers’ Programme has continued for our Form 7’s with two separate activities for them to engage with.
On Tuesday, we had a visit from two Kent Police officers, who spoke to the children about a wide range of topics and scenarios that they may meet as they move into secondary education. These included understanding their own responsibilities when using social media, how to report incidents and crimes to appropriate adults or the police and how to keep your possessions safe when at school or travelling.
The class were then visited by Tom from Compass for Life on Thursday, who ran a workshop on setting and achieving goals. Whilst this workshop included delving deep into passions, values and things that the children excelled at, one of the childrens’ favourite tasks involved using Lego to create a representation of what they hoped their future occupation would be.
Elsewhere in school, many of our children experienced their first competitive cricket matches of the season, with the U11 A and B sides both picking up healthy wins.
The Public Speaking competition has also progressed to the next round now as the children found out who has made it through to the finals, which will be held on Tuesday next week.
Finally, the class have been learning about the history of Britain in humanities lessons. So far, they have created a timeline of key events, learned about Viking warships and attempted to answer Monty Python’s timeless question, What did the Romans ever do for us?
