Winging it

Form 5 continued to learn about the muscular-skeletal system by looking closely at the anatomy of a chicken wing.

They got to see the antagonistic triceps and biceps muscles working to move the lower part of the wing. They saw how tendons attached the muscle to the joint, but also how the muscles hatched along the length of the bones. They learnt how diagrams can't show all the details of the real object.

The class has been looking at the art of persuasion for the past couple of weeks. They began by looking at some persuasive letters about whether or not birds should be caged. They have moved on to thinking about advertising. They have been thinking about the festive season and specifically, brussels sprouts. Only three pupils in the class admitted to actually liking the vegetables, but their task is to create an advert to convince their customers to buy them.

With a mixture of bold and bright colours, cute sprout characters and special offers, Form 5 promises to be a sprout-positive classroom this Christmas!
