A reflective week
26 Sep 2025There were many highlights in a busy week for our Form 7s. They have been involved in many practical lessons this week, with one of the standouts being the use of mirrors in maths.
The children were tasked with drawing accurate reflections across diagonal mirror lines - a task that took precision and accuracy. In other lessons, the class enjoyed continuing their work on the Titanic, identifying which parties might have been at fault, causing the well-known tragedy. From builders to the captain of the ship, the children have been learning how to construct an essay, justifying their opinions as they go.
There was also a very colourful end to the week with Thursday’s Modern Foreign Languages day. With a range of nations represented by the dressing up, the whole school enjoyed an assembly by some of our Russell House parents, in which some of the traditions and spoken language of Thailand, Iran and China were shared. During their French lesson in the afternoon, the class were then given the opportunity to dedicate their time on the Chromebooks to using Language Link - a programme that lets them select the language that they want to learn. Why not ask your child what they picked and see if they can remember any of the words and phrases that they learned.
All of our children were in action on the sports fields this week, with the girls taking on St Michael’s at hockey and the boys travelling to Spring Grove for football. However, a special well done must be given to the three boys that represented the school in the Spring Grove tournament, where they emerged as competition winners, claiming the first piece of sporting silverware of the year!
