An eye-opening experience
17 Oct 2025Form 7 used torches with coloured filters; red, green and blue (the primary colours of light), to make the secondary colours of light; cyan, magenta and yellow. They observed white light as well, where all three beams met.
They followed this up with a dissection of an eye, so that they could see which parts the light passes into and how the rays are directed further. This is always a highlight of the science calendar and is essential to the children’s understanding of the different parts of the eye and how they work.
In French, the class have been diligently studying the essential verb avoir (to have) in French, engaging with videos, interactive exercises, and worksheets. Now, they're taking their understanding to the next level by composing their own songs! This innovative approach to language learning not only reinforces their grasp of avoir conjugations but also ignites their creativity.
The class also had an opportunity to show some of their work to the rest of the school on Thursday, with the presentation of our class assembly. Although the theme was Chessington, the children shared records that had been broken, linked around the themes of each of the rides and even got some volunteers to take part in some special challenges at the front of the hall. A job well done!
Finally, the half term finished with the Inter-House football and hockey tournaments. Thank you to our Form 7 pupils for organising their teams so well and thank you to the parents and families that cam along to support. Well done to our victorious houses - this is a cracking way to finish before the holidays. Have an enjoyable two week break from school and we look forward to seeing you back on 3 November.
