Beautiful chalk patterns

In humanities, Form 4 spent some time outside creating their own rangoli patterns once they had learnt about the Hindu festival of Diwali.

They used brightly coloured chalk to create symmetrical patterns to welcome visitors into the classroom.

Form 4, have been busy experimenting this week. They were asked to investigate how far elastic bands stretched depending on the force applied to them. They needed to set all the equipment correctly and ensure that they took careful measurements. The children then needed to use these results to create line graphs using an Excel document.

In maths, the children have been consolidating their knowledge of multiplication and division and the standard methods used to calculate with large numbers. They then used these methods to help them solve a range of word problems and puzzles.

In English, the children have continued writing their newspaper reports, ensuring that they include the five Ws (who, what, why, where and when) as well as a range of facts and opinions and quotes from people involved.
