Good posture

The Leavers’ Programme continued on Monday with a session in physiotherapy.

The Form 7s learned lots of useful information about the spine, using a model of the bone structure and marshmallows to demonstrate the pressure put onto different vertebrae when the body completes different movements. This was also accompanied by lots of quirky facts, which the children enjoyed guessing about in a quiz. Did you know that a human being has the same amount of vertebrae as a giraffe? The main focus of the session was to highlight the importance of posture and looking after our bodies. The children enjoyed taking part in some yoga and stretching activities to help highlight some of the key points.

Elsewhere in the Leavers’ Programme, preparations continue for the Form 7 Production at the end of the school year. Now that the children have received their parts and scripts, rehearsals have begun and songs are being learned. The group has taken to this with great enthusiasm. Feel free to lend a helping hand at home, as the childrens’ scripts and song lyrics are all on Google Classroom, so that they can practise.

This week has been Humanities Week in school, the highlight of which was the visit to Lullingstone Country Park on Monday. Accompanied by Mr Plant, Form 7 used orienteering maps to navigate a course that was just over 4 kilometres in length. This built upon previous experiences both in school and at Norfolk Lakes last year. The activity was a lot of fun and the children enjoyed having the opportunity to go off in small groups to explore their surroundings.
