I am puzzled

There is a temptation to feel a little melancholy at this time of year, when we start saying farewell to activities, such as our final girls’ cricket match at Russell House and the final meeting of our departing School Council. There are, however, lots of things still to look forward to, which we will touch upon briefly in this bulletin.

The rehearsals are in full flow for the end-of-year production, Dream On, for which the children have made excellent progress with their singing and acting. With many natural actors, the attention this week has mainly been focussed upon learning lines and discussions about costumes. Once your child has confirmed their costume with Mrs Reay, they are welcome to bring them in to school, so that they can access them during rehearsals.

In maths lessons, the theme has been problem solving, with the children attempting to unpick a variety of puzzles, including ones involving Roman numerals and arranging matchsticks. This was a lot of fun and promoted good team work as well as logical thinking skills. Well done to Johnson, who won both the F7 class competition and the whole school Inter House Maths last week - our results were announced in assembly and the points have been added to the termly totals.

A final thank you to all those attending this evening's Summer Soirée, which the children have been preparing for during the day today. A lot of time and effort has gone into the preparation of this event and we are most grateful for your attendance.
