Practical activities

Form 4 have been busy with lots of practical activities this week.

They found out about the battle formations that the Romans used and then had a go at re-enacting them out on the paddock. It was far trickier than expected to stay in formation and there were a few casualties along the way who were picked off by invading forces!

In science, they had the chance to experiment with the ray boxes and torches to find out which materials reflected light and if they could use a prism to bend the light. The children were even able to split the light and produce a rainbow.

There was time for a game at the end of the lesson where the children had to try and catch the light from a green laser pen on their mirror and then reflect it to another person across the room. It was hard work but a lot of fun.

In English, the children have read the book The Tunnel by Anthony Browne and are writing their own part of the story. A boy is turned to stone but no explanation is given of how or why. The children have come up with some excellent, exciting possibilities of what might have happened.
