The magic behind magnets
01 May 2026Form 4 have enjoyed experimenting with the magnets in science this week.
They were given a range of magnets and asked to find out which one was the strongest. The children were surprised at how many paperclips some of the magnets could hold and they then used their results to draw a bar graph.
In English, they have begun working on a newspaper article. They began looking at a selection of First News newspapers and identifying the main features of a news article. Then they had a go at identifying the five Ws (who? what? why? where? and when?) from a range of reports. They will write their own reports next week.
In humanities, the children found out about some of the key gods and goddesses in Hinduism and they learned about the festival of Holi.
Maths saw the introduction of area and perimeter and the children have been practising finding both on various rectangles. Form 4 enjoyed a lovely outdoor art lesson in the sunshine.
