What is red?
13 Mar 2026For Science Week, Form 4's colour was red.
The children wrote some excellent poems about what they think red represents. They used the poem, What is Red by Mary O'Neill, for inspiration and came up with lots of wonderful ideas.
Form 4 have had a very exciting week. Not only have they been putting the final touches to their play and trying on their costumes, they have also enjoyed showing many of their grandparents around the school and they have carefully chosen gifts from the Mother's Day stall.
In maths, the children have continued to practise telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes on both digital and analogue clocks. They have also looked at the various measurements of time and begun to work out time intervals.
Science has also been linked to their colour of red. The children were asked: Why is Mars Red? They had some very interesting, thoughtful ideas and then they found out about the current exploration of Mars and what we already know. Then it was time for independent research and the children are currently producing posters to display their findings.
