The ice cube challenge07 Dec 2018
What's the best insulator for an ice cube? Form 4 have been investigating.
Form 4 have been busy experimenting again this week. They were given the challenge of keeping an ice cube solid for as long as possible. They did this by choosing a material to use as an insulator.
They discovered a silk scarf was the most effective, keeping the ice cube intact for over and hour and a half, and that cold water made the ice melt much quicker than anything else (only 40 minutes).
A Thermos flask kept the ice cube intact for 3 hours but they decided this was cheating!
