Meeting Lauren St John

Form 6 enjoyed a visit from an author this week and have been preparing for a special day.

This week Form 6 met the author Lauren St John, who spoke to them about her wild childhood in Zimbabwe, the inspirations for her settings, characters and storylines and her work for Authors4Oceans. They very much enjoyed the talk and then were able to have copies of her books signed by Lauren herself.

We all went shopping for Mother's Day this week and there were some wonderful things on offer - but we won't spoil the surprise! In Art too we have been getting ready for this important day. We have been making some beautiful cards which, while they still need a few finishing touches, will be ready on time to present to these very important ladies.

Over the last few lessons, the children in Form 6 have been designing and creating their own Victorian games. Drawing inspiration from their trip to Horton Kirby, the children thought about the simplicity as well as the materials that were used. With their games finished, the children played with their own and each other's games, before discussing the differences between those they had made and games they have at home.
